Monumental Fiddling Championship

Registration begins at 10 a.m.

Registration and a free fiddling workshop are at 10 a.m., the contest is at 12 p.m., and a concert by the Sandy Creek Bluegrass Band follows at 4 p.m. There are 3 divisions and $1300 in prize money, or a free fiddle as a prize. Pieces should be a hoedown, waltz, and/or tune of choice, from the years prior to 1936 when Homestead National Monument was created. There will be 3 divisions: Junior Division (less than 5 years experience, play two pieces), Senior Division (more than 5 years experience, play 3 pieces), and Legends Division (past 1st place winners of Senior Division, play 3 pieces). First place winners in each division will receive a trophy and choose either prize money or a new fiddle. Second and third place will receive a trophy and a cash prize.
